A 36-km tailback on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway forced hundreds of vehicles to remain stuck since early today.

Hundreds of passengers remain stuck in a 36-kilometre tailback on Dhaka-Chittagong highway since early today due to heavy rush of traffic.

A huge number of vehicles were seen stranded on the highway stretching from Cantonment area of Comilla to Chandina upazila when the report was filed around 11:00am, reports our Comilla correspondent quoting Shailan Chakma, superintendent of highway police.

The tailback began around 2:00am as the vehicles set off for their respective destinations after a nine-day countrywide blockade of roads, rail and waterways enforced by BNP-led 18-party opposition combine.

The opposition has postponed its indefinite blockade for two days - Friday and Saturday.
