3 of a family killed in Comilla road crash

A police sergeant, his wife and their three-year-old daughter were killed as their private car hit the railing of a bridge in Chouddagram upazila of Comilla this morning.

The deceased were identified as police sergeant Nazrul Islam Belal, 50, his wife Maksuda Akhtar Laboni, 37, and their daughter Nusrat Tabassum.

The police official along with his wife and daughter were returning to his work place at Brahmanbaria after celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr at his village home in Chhagalnaiya upazila of Feni, Shahabuddin Ahmed, sergeant of Chouddagram highway police.

Shahabuddin said the car hit the railing of a bridge in Basantapur area on Dhaka-Chittagong highway after Belal who was on the driving seat lost his control over steering at about 7:30am.

Belal and Tabassum died on the spot while Laboni succumbed at the Comilla Medical College and Hospital, the police official said.

The bodies were taken at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
