3 of a family killed as truck rams bike in Tangail

Three members of a family, including a woman and her daughter, were killed as a truck rammed their motorbike at Mozidpur in Ghatail upazila yesterday.

The dead are Sumon Miah, 28, son of Abdul Aziz of Pachh Charan village in Kalihati upazila, his sister Asma Begum, 30, and her daughter Maria, 4.

The accident happened on Tangail-Gopalpur road around 4:30pm when the Gopalpur-bound truck hit the motorbike and ran it over. Sumon was taking Asma and her daughter to his house from Asma's in-laws'. The three died on the spot, said Mokhlesur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Ghatail Police Station.

Both the driver and helper of the vehicle managed to flee, leaving the truck on the spot, he said.

The bodies were handed over to the victims' families, the police official added.
