3 kids hurt in unexploded bomb blast

A child was burnt and two other children received minor injuries when an unexploded cocktail they picked up went off in Sonagazi upazila of Feni today.

Rimon, 7, Sefayetul Islam, 5, and Asraful Islam, 7, found an object wrapped up with scotch tape near a haystack while playing on the premises of one darbesh Ali Munshi at South Laxmipur area of Mangalkandi union around 12:30pm.

While trying to find out what the object was, it exploded in Rimon’s hand, burning his hand and part of his face.

Sefayetul and Asraful, who were standing nearby, also received minor injuries from the blast.

The children were rushed to Sonagazi Upazila Health Complex, from where Rimon was later shifted to Feni Sadar Hospital.

On contact, Abu Jafar Md Saleh, officer-in-charge of Sonagazi Police Station, confirmed the incident.

This is the second such incident in a week where children were injured in blast from unexploded crude bombs.

The middle and ring fingers of the left hand of Mohammad Sourav Hawlader, 12, were blown off on March 1 when he picked up an abandoned bomb in the capital’s Ray Shaheb Bazar area.
