3 hurt in Dinajpur petrol bomb attack

AL office, 4 vehicles torched in Chandpur, Sylhet

Three people were burnt as alleged blockaders hurled two petrol bombs at a truck in Kaharol upazila of Dinajpur last night.

Meanwhile, district Awami League office was torched and four vehicles were set on fire in Sylhet this morning on the 17th day of the blockade enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance. But no one was hurt in the arson attacks.

DINAJPUR

Blockade supporters hurled two petrol bombs at a truck on Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway at Bhadgaon in Kaharol upazila around 9.30pm yesterday, leaving its driver, helper and a passenger injured.

Truck driver Rafiqul Islam, 45, helper Monir Hossain, 27, and a passenger, Abdul Maleque 46, were rushed to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.

The truck was badly damaged, said Pritish Kumar, officer-in-charge of Kaharol Police Station.

In Ghoraghat upazila, criminals set fire to a truck in Raniganj area around 11.30pm yesterday but locals doused the flame immediately.

CHANDPUR

Two chairs and a poster of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were gutted when miscreants set fire to the district AL office on Chandpur-Comilla road in the town around 5:15am today.

But locals put out the blaze immediately.

A man was held in connection with the incident, said Abdul Kaiyum, OC of Chandpur Model Police Station.

SYLHET

Two buses, a human hauler and an auto-rickshaw were torched in Dakkhin Surma and Golapganj upazilas between 8:00am and 10:00am, our Sylhet correspondent said.
