3 Ctg cops among five sued for extortion

Five people including three police officers were sued on charges of demanding extortion to a man after detaining his three children in Chittagong.
The accused are Assistant Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police Mahmuda Khanam, two Sub-inspectors --  Md Khaled Uddin and Fafizul Islam -- of Chatgaon Police Station and two others -- Jalal Uddin Sagar and Ibrahim Masud.
Father Mahmud Morshed, a businessman, filed the case with Metropolitan Session Judges' Court today.
In the case, Mahmud stated that police officials in connivance with Sagar and Masud detained his two sons and a daughter on September 3 and demanded Tk 1 lakh from him.
The police officers also threatened him with life in default.
The law enforcers picked up the children after Mahmud’s wife filed a case against him under the women and children repression prevention act recently.
Mahmud claimed that his wife filed the case after being provoked by the accused police officers.
