The International Crimes Tribunal-2 yesterday took the war crimes charges brought against two alleged Razakars of Chapainawabganj into cognisance.

Prosecutors pressed three charges against Mahidur Rahman and Afsar Hossain alias Chutu for their alleged involvement in mass killings, arson, looting, abduction, torture, confinement and murder committed in Chapainawabganj during the 1971 Liberation War.

The three-member tribunal led by Justice Obaidul Hassan with members Justice Md Mozibur Rahman Miah and Justice Md Shahinur Islam also showed them arrested in the war crimes case.

In presence of the accused, the court also fixed December 1 for hearing on the charges to decide whether they would be indicted or not.

Mahidur, 84, of Dadanchak village, and Afsar, 65, of Satrosia village, under Shibganj in Chapainawabganj are BNP supporters, states the prosecution.

They were arrested on September 16.
