28-member squad named

National football team's head coach Lodewijk De Kruif yesterday announced a 28-member preliminary squad for the March 5 friendly against India, including six new faces and dropping as many from the last side which participated in the SAFF Championship.
Among new faces striker Rubel Mia, midfielder Hemanta Vincent Biswas, midfielder Jewel Rana and defender Tutul Hossain Badha  are from the national U-19 team while the other two are Sheikh Jamal DC defender Didarul Haque and Team BJMC striker Aminur Rahman Sajib.
Goalkeeper Ziaur Rahman, defenders Ariful Islam and Wali Faisal, midfielder Omar Faruk Babu and strikers Shakhawat Hossain Rony and Wahed Ahmed have been excluded from the preliminary squad.
“All players have been picked on the basis of their performance in the Federation Cup, Bangladesh Premier League and the AFC U-19 championship qualifiers,” said a BFF statement yesterday, requesting the selected players to report to team manager Iqbal Hossain at BFF today.
Goalkeepers Shahidul Alam Shohel and Mazharul Islam Himel, defenders Tapu Barman, Yeasin Khan and Yeamin Ahmed Munna and midfielders Towhidul Alam Touhid, Emon Mahmud and Shahedul Alam Shahed have been brough back into the squad which consist of maximum 11 players from Sheikh Jamal DC.
About the inclusion of new faces, coach de Kruif said, “There are a few new faces in the squad as apprentices are required for the grooming of future players.”
Danish-born Jamal Bhuiyan would join the team in Mumbai on February 3 and the final squad would be of 18 members .
