2 workers die in Mongla crane fall

Two workers were killed as a crane broke down and fell on them while unloading goods from a ship at Mongla Port in Bagerhat this morning.

The accident took place in Pashur river around 8:45am, reports our Bagerhat correspondent quoting Md Belayet Hossain, officer-in-charge of Mongla Police Station.

The deceased are Matin, 52, foreman of the port; and Zakir Hossain, 36, a tally clerk. Both of them are inhabitants of Mongla municipality area.

Matin died on the spot while Zakir succumbed to injuries on the way to Mongla Upazila Health Complex, the OC said.

The port authorities formed a probe committee to investigate the incident.
