2 workers burnt in Gazipur spinning mill fire
Two workers suffered burn injuries as a fire broke out at a spinning mill in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur this morning.
The injured are Shahjahan Miah, 30, and Al Amin, 19, of Utility Department of Israk Spinning Mill at Madhkhola, reports our Gazipur correspondent.
Another worker, Bipul, was injured as he jumped from the second floor of the factory building to escape the fire.
The blaze originated at the generator room due to a gas leak around 6:30am, said Milon Hossain Gazi, an engineer of the factory.
Informed by locals, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame after two hours of frantic effort.
Of the injured, Shahjahan was whisked off to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital with deteriorating condition. The other injured received first aid at a local hospital.
The extent of damage caused by the fire was estimated at Tk 4.5 crore, the mill authorities said.
