2 stabbed dead in capital

Two people were stabbed to death by unknown miscreants in Mirpur of the capital early today.

The deceased are Kaiyum Mia, 38, a resident of Madhya Pirerbagh in Mirpur; and his friend Md Jahangir, 37, said Salauddin Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mirpur Police Station.

The duo picked up a quarrel with a gang at Battala in Dakhkhin Pirerbagh area around 1:00am.

At one stage, the criminals stabbed them to death and fled the scene, the OC said quoting locals.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy, the police officials said adding that the law enforcers recovered two motorbikes from the spot.

Kaiyum's brother Farhan Mia told The Daily Star that Kaiyum, an expatriate in Malaysia, went out of the residence around 11:30pm with some of his friends.
