2 policewomen killed in Dhaka crash

Two policewomen were killed and at least 20 others injured as a truck crashed into a bus carrying them in Fakirapul intersection in the capital on this morning.

The deceased were identified as constables Manira, 20, and Aklima, 22.

Police said a speeding truck slammed into a bus carrying some female police personnel from beside the area at about 5:45 am, leaving Manira and Aklima dead on the spot and at least 20 others injured.

Of the injured, Mali, Farida, Sohagi, Yeasmin, Sima, Shahnaz and Alfa were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital while others to different hospitals.
