‘2 parties’ curse for Bangladesh: Ershad

‘2 parties’ curse for Bangladesh: Ershad

Terming two major political parties a curse for the country, Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad today said people now want to get rid of those.

Ershad also criticised both Awami League and BNP for making mockery with the issue of formalin, a health hazardous chemical.

"I feel bad when the politicians make mockery with formalin issue,” Ershad said while addressing a programme at the party's Banani office in the capital.

It is painful that both the AL and BNP leaders do not feel any shame while making the mockery, Ershad said.

“I could have controlled the use of formalin in a week if I was in power,” he said.

Even Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina can control the use if she really wants, he added.

At a press conference, Fakhrul yesterday termed Hasina's rule "the era of formalin" and said the government was spreading not only formalin but also dangerous poison everywhere, destroying society, politics and the economy.

His comments came in response to a prime minister’s remark where she said the government has kept BNP alive with formalin.

Ershad also urged the government to order law enforcers to stop killings, abduction and forced disappearances in the country immediately.
