Two people who were critically burnt in separate arson attacks in Savar and Bogra succumbed to their wounds in Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Friday.
Zakir Hosssain, 13, and Abdur Rahim, 36, died at the burn unit of DMCH early today and around 10:00am respectively, report our Savar and Bogra correspondents.
Including the two, at least 30 people, 19 without reported affiliation to politics, have died in the violence that arose centering the first anniversary of January 5 national poll earlier this month.
The violence began since BNP-led 20-party’s countrywide nonstop blockade programme that entered 18th day today demanding dialogue for fresh polls under nonpartisan government.
On January 13, local people found Zakir crying in pain with burnt injuries beside a road in Nabinagar area and admitted him at Gonoshastho Kendra Hospital in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka.
Later, the victim was referred to the DMCH burn unit as his condition deteriorated, Dr Ashraful Mollik director of the hospital said.
Zakir with 70 percent burn injuries all over his body ceased to fight for his life around 3:00am, the doctor said.
Besides, Abdur Rahim, a truck helper, died at the burn unit around 10:00am, Gaziur Rahman, assistant superintendent of Borga police, told our correspondent there.
Three people including Rahim were burnt as a group of unidentified miscreants hurled petrol bombs on his vehicle in Noongola area of Bogra Sadar upazila around 8:00pm Thursday.
Other victims, Titon Mia and Sujon, were first taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
Sujon and Rahim were later brought to DMCH after their condition worsened.
