2 gun-toting AL men held in Gazipur

Police arrested two Awami League activists today who were seen brandishing firearms during yesterday’s clash between two factions of the party in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur. 

Shajhann alias Kamrul, 40, and Masum Khan, 43, were detained by police after a raid in the upazila, Abdul Baten, superintendent of Gazipur police revealed in a press briefing.

Two shotguns were recovered from their possession, he added.

Armed Awami League cadres, supporters of AL-backed chairman candidate Iqbal Hossain Sobuj in Sreepur upazila, were seen chasing activists of rebel AL candidate Abdul Jalil yesterday.
