A Dhaka court today placed two people on a five-day remand each in a case filed over the trafficking of 26 Bangladeshis killed in Libya on May 28.

The accused are: Zahangir Hossain (40) of Shibchar in Madaripur, and Badsha Fakir (34) of Bhanga in Faridpur.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Baki Billah passed the order after SM Gaffarul Alam, an inspector of Detective Branch of police and also the investigation officer of the case, produced the accused before his court with a 10-day remand prayer.

In the remand prayer, DB Inspector Gaffarul said the accused are named in the First Information Report (FIR) and they were directly involved with trafficking people to Libya.

Moreover, another accused, Mohsin Howlader, yesterday gave a confessional statement about the involvement of the accused in trafficking people to Libya, the official added.

During the hearing today, no lawyer stood to defend them in the court.

The case was filed with Paltan Police Station on June 4 against 16 traffickers -- including Zahangir and Badsha -- for their alleged involvement with trafficking.
