Activists of BNP-led 18-party alliance bring out a procession in Rupganj upazila in Narayanganj Monday morning, the third day of the opposition's countrywide blockade.

At least 15 people including four policemen were injured in a clash between the activists of BNP and law enforcers in Shailakupa upazila of Jhenidah this morning, on the third day of opposition's 83-hour blockade.

BNP-led 18-party opposition combine slated the countrywide blockade of roads, rail and waterways from 6:00am Saturday protesting the 10th parliamentary election schedule and demanding a non-party polls-time government.

The 30-minute clash ensued around 8:15am when police intercepted a procession of BNP at Kabirpur in the upazila headquarters.

Being resisted, the processionists hurled brick chips towards the law enforcers, leaving four policemen injured, said Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shailakupa Police Station.

At one stage, police charged batons, fired seven gunshots and five teargas canisters to disperse the agitated activists. Eleven activists of the main opposition BNP injured during the incident, the OC said.

Injured policemen were given primary treatment while the BNP men were admitted to local clinics, our correspondent reports.
