14kg gold seized at Shahjalal airport

Customs officials seized 120 gold bars weighing around 14kg at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport this evening.

Tipped off, a team of the customs officials carried out a search on a Regent Airways flight after its passengers got off and recovered the gold worth around Tk 6.5 crore from under a seat, said Abu Yoysuf, an assistant commissioner of the customs.

No one was arrested as the bars remained unclaimed, he told The Daily Star.

The official added that the flight from Bangkok arrived at the airport around 6:30pm.
