14kg gold seized, 7 held at Dhaka airport

Customs officials seized 119 gold bars weighing around 14 kilograms and arrested seven persons at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka this afternoon.
The gold worth around Tk 7 crore was brought to Dhaka by a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Rashidul Hassan, assistant commissioner of customs, told The Daily Star.
He said the gold bars were recovered after searching the bodies of the seven at domestic terminal area around 12:50pm.  
Hassan added that the flight from Dubai first landed at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet and then fled to Dhaka.
A customs official said the seven boarded the flight in Sylhet where they had been provided with the bars to carry to Dhaka.
The arrestees are: Jasim Uddin, Amir Hossain, Rashed Chowdhury, Nazim Uddin, Lokman Bhuiyan, Salauddin and Anwar Hossain.
