14-party 'peace rally' in Comilla on Feb 7

Awami League-led 14-party alliance will hold a 'peace rally' at Chouddagrama upazila in Comilla on Saturday commemorating the death of seven commoners in an arson attack there.
The programme was declared by Mohammad Nasim, spokesperson for the alliance and also the health minister, after a joint meeting at Sheikh Hasina's Dhanmondi office today.
Alongside the 'peace rally' for February 7, the 14-party alliance will also form human chain across the country on February 8 in protest against the ongoing blockade and hartal of the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) a political element of the 14-party alliance will also hold a peace rally across the country on February 7 in protest against the street violence committed by the BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists.
Apart from this, Workers Party, a political partner of the 14-party alliance will hold the same programme on February 10 while Samyabadi Dal will stage the same programme across the country on February 13 on the same ground, Nasim said.
Later, the ruling 14-party alliance will stage several demonstrations at different places in Dhaka on February 14 and 15.
Nasim, who is also the presidium member of Awami League, criticized BNP chief Khaleda Zia for re-announcing the hartals and is shocked that she engaged in this bloody game before the SSC exams.
Khaleda Zia has enforced a fresh spell hartal intending to foil SSC exams but sent her won daughter-in-law to Malaysia so that she is not affected, he said.
