14 honoured with Ekushey Padak 2015

Fifteen eminent personalities have been selected for this year's Ekushey Padak in recognition of their contribution to their respective fields.

Late Piaru Sardar will receive the award for his role in the language movement and Prof Md Majibar Rahman Devdas for his role in the Liberation War.

Professor Dwijen Sharma and Mohammed Nurul Huda have been selected for their outstanding contribution in language and literature.

Professor Dr MA Mannan and Sanat Kumar Saha have been named in the category of education, and archaeologist Abul Kalam Mohammed Zakaria in research.

Kamal Lohani and Faridur Reza Sagar have been recognised for their contribution in journalism and mass media.

Late Abdur Rahman Bayati, and eminent actors SA Abul Hayat and ATM Shamsuzzaman have been selected under the category of arts.

The other recipients under the social service category are Jharna Dhara Chowdhury, Srimat Sattyaprio Mohather and Dr Arupratan Chowdhury.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the award to the recipients at Osmani Memorial Auditorium on February 19.
