13.5kg gold seized at Ctg airport

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members detained a passenger with gold bars and ornaments weighing 13.515 kilogrammes while he was coming out of Shah Amanat International Airport in the port city of Chittagong this evening.
Belal Uddin, 26, of Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar, was carrying 115 gold bars and 175 gram gold ornaments worth around Tk 6.5 crore, said Lt Col Mista Uddin Ahmed, commanding officer (CO) of Rab-7.
“On secret information, Belal was picked up while he was leaving the airport around 6:30pm,” the CO told our Chittagong correspondent.
Customs officials said the detainee had arrived in the airport from Dubai at 5:30pm by a flight of Oman Airlines.
