11 shops gutted in fire at Lalmonirhat market

Eleven shops were burned to ashes in a fire that broke out at Burinbazar in Lalmonirhat's Sadar upazila this morning.

The fire that started around 7:00am likely originated from an electric short circuit, our Lalmonirhat correspondent reports quoting locals and fire service officials. Shop owners estimate a loss of goods worth Tk one crore.

The damaged stores include shops selling cosmetics, electronic products and grocery items among others.

Saidul Islam, deputy director of Lalmonirhat Fire Service and Civil Defence station, confirmed the matter to The Daily Star.

Further details of the fire could not be known yet.
