Law enforcers have detained 11 people along with a firearm, 15 bullets and 50,000 yaba tablets in Rampura and Khilgaon of Dhaka.

Acting on a tip-off, members of Rapid Action Battalion-3 conducted a raid on the second floor of a house at Pashchim Rampura around 12:45am and arrested the seven people along with a pistol, 15 bullets, two magazines, six knives, 13 mobiles, 16 SIM cards and 70 cans of beer, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports.

The detainees are Jahirul Islam, Ferdaus Mia, Humayun Kabir, Omar Faruk, Md Hossain, Raju and Md Russel, the daily reports quoting Rabiul Karim, assistant superintendent of Rab-3.

Rab members handed them to Rampura Police Station.

Meanwhile, detectives detained four dealers along with 50,000 pieces of yaba and equipment used for manufacturing the drug at Khilgaon in Dhaka around 7:30pm yesterday.

While conducting the drive, Detective Branch of police also seized Pajero Jeep (SUV) carrying the detainees and yaba in front of Khidma Hospital at Khilgaon, Zahangir Hossain Matobber, deputy commissioner (east) of DB police told at a press briefing.

The detainees are: Md Abdullah Jubayer, 28, Ayub Ali, 45, Shamsul Alam, 28 and Mostakin Hossain, 32.

The yaba tablets were smuggled into Cox’s Bazar from Myanmar, Zahangir said.
