Customs intelligence officials seized 90 gold bars weighing 10.4 kilogrammes from a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong this morning.

The officials found the gold bars in BG-022 around 9:40am after it landed at the airport from Muscat of Oman, said Md Mosear Rahman, assistant commissioner of airport customs.

The gold bars worth around Tk 4.50 crore were lying abandoned in a packet inside the overhead cabinet, reports our Chittagong correspondent quoting the assistant commissioner.

None was arrested in this connection.

With this incident, a total of over 71 kilogrammes of illegally brought gold were seized and nine persons were arrested at 34 separate drives at the airport since January 17, said sources in the airport customs.
