Amid the ongoing operation, police headquarters yesterday directed all its personnel including zonal officials to maintain a high alert.
It also instructed its members to provide additional security measures at vulnerable places including police stations, outposts and check posts.
Following the development in Sylhet, the police headquarters in Dhaka issued a directive in this regard yesterday, Moniruzzaman, assistant inspector general (AIG) of police, told The Daily Star this afternoon.
Yesterday, six people including the two policemen were killed and at least 40 people were injured in the blasts near the building in Sylhet city.
Hours after the blasts, US-based SITE Intelligence said terror group Islamic State claimed credit for the attack.
“The Islamic State's Amaq News Agency reported that the group is responsible for a bombing on Bangladeshi forces in Sylhet,” SITE said on its website.
The Bangladesh government denies that IS has presence in the country.
