A deck joint on the first Burignanga bridge has been broadening due to an absence of any maintenance work in years, posing a risk of its permanent damage. The nation witnessed great fanfare when the bridge was opened twenty eight years ago. Although a contractor continues to collect toll from vehicles, the bridge connecting the capital with Khulna and other southwestern districts remains neglected.
