Bangladesh attacks: Travel alert renewed for US citizens
In a renewed warning, the US State Department has asked Americans to carefully consider the risks of travel to Bangladesh and called the threat of terrorism "real and credible".
The travel warning comes after the July 1 attack in Dhaka's diplomatic enclave and today's militant attacks near an Eid congregation in Kishoreganj.
Twenty hostages in a restaurant popular with foreigners were killed, including one American. Two police and six attackers died.
Four people, including two policemen and one attacker died in Kishoreganj today.
It was the latest act of violence in Bangladesh. Militants have targeted atheists, religious minorities and others they consider to be "enemies of Islam."
"US citizens should take stringent security measures, remain vigilant, and be alert to local security developments," the State Department said in a travel warning update.
