Angry public attacked Khaleda’s convoy: Joy
Denying Awami League’s involvement, prime minister’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy said the attack on BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s motorcade was done by “angry public.”
“People of Dhaka are quite angry at Khaleda Zia for burning 160 people to death and injuring many others on buses and public transportation during the past three months,” he said in his Facebook page last night.
“I think those who attacked her motorcade with brick bats today are probably expressing this anger,” he said. “We from the Awami League do not condone violence and this attack, but we also cannot control people’s anger.”
“Those innocent victims deserve justice. Khaleda Zia and the BNP must be brought to justice for their heinous and cowardly arson attacks. Throwing bricks at her motorcade is not the way to do this,” he added.
Ruling Awami League activists pounced on Khaleda’s motorcade at Karwan Bazar while campaigning for a BNP-blessed mayor candidate ahead of city polls. The attack was caught on newspapers and TV channels.
