Banani rape: Shafat’s driver confesses at court
Cops allowed to:
-Collect DNA sample from Nayem
-Conduct forensic test on Shafat, Sakif’s mobiles
Prime accused Ahmed Shafat’s driver Billal Hossain today confessed his role during the much-talked about Banani double rape.
Billal, who reportedly filmed the rape scene, gave the confessional statement to Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan this afternoon, reports our court correspondent.

Earlier in the day, police produced him before the court on completion of his remand period. Later, he was sent to jail.
Cops to collect Nayem’s DNA, conduct forensic test on mobiles of Shafat, Sakif
Another court in Dhaka today allowed investigators to collect DNA samples from Nayem Ashraf alias Halim, another key accused in the case filed for raping the two private university girls.
Metropolitan Magistrate Delwar Hussain passed the order after police filed a petition seeking permission for the test.

Earlier in the day, the same court allowed police to carry out a forensic test on mobile phones of Shafat and Sakif.
The order came after investigation officer of the case Inspector Ismot Ara Ame filed an application seeking permission to conduct the forensic test on the two mobile phones and a power bank.

In the prayer, Ame, inspector of the victim support centre, said the test is necessary for further investigation.
On May 11, police arrested two accused -- Shafat and Shadman Sakif -- from a house in Sylhet, six days after the rape case was filed with Banani Police Station. The other accused -- Nayem, Rahmat Ali and Billal – were arrested later.According to the case statement, Shafat and Nayem were accused of raping two university girls at The Raintree Dhaka hotel while Shafat's driver Billal, bodyguard Rahmat and Sakif were accused of assisting Shafat and Nayem.
On May 18, Shafat and Sakif gave confessional statements before two magistrates in Dhaka.
