Spring in The Air
The end of winter marks the awakening of nature; new leaves sprout on trees, flowers blossom and bees hover around in search of nectar, as new life is injected and all the gloom and mist of winter is left behind. Dwellers of the concrete jungle welcome Bashanta (spring) -- the king of seasons -- on Pahela Falgun (February 13) with its epicentre of attraction being the Faculty of Fine Arts, fondly called Charukala. Dressed in bright saris and sporting floral head ornaments, people of all ages walk out of the homes to breathe in the aroma of the fresh air, heralding a new, colourful season. This ignoring the countrywide indefinite blockade and hartals that have been rattling people.
