Mosharraf Karim greeted by army of fans in Kolkata

Television actors usually have  have a niche following of  national viewers. However, actor Mosharraf Karim discovered to his pleasant surprise that has broken those barriers. On his recent trip to Kolkata, he realised that for a Bangladeshi small screen actor, he has a large  fan following.

The actor is taking a weeklong break in Kolkata along with his wife Jui Karim, friend and director Shamim Zaman and his wife Omi. Staying at the Hotel Peerless, the trip also entailed a routine medical checkup, made necessary due to his recent bout of illness.

However, there was little hope for the anticipated respite as the actor was flooded with adulation, gifts, and requests for selfies by loyal fans in marketplaces, on trains, and everywhere else he ventured. Not having access to Bangladeshi TV networks, dedicated viewers regularly watch his work on YouTube. One of his biggest fans there, Abhijeet Banerjee, regularly accompanied the traveling artistes on their outings, and became their guide.

His short stay also made headlines in the local papers, and the actor gave a few interviews as well. Despite traveling to escape the rigorous life he leads in Bangladesh, the actor tirelessly obliged to the adoring attention in Kolkata.

 “I had come here to take a break, but I had no idea how popular I have become here,” he stated.

Mosharraf Karim's stardom is also admired by members of the West Bengal showbiz scene. During his stay, they were all invited to the residence of Banu Banerjee, son of noted producer Gautam Banerjee. To show their appreciation, the host presented the actor with a few books to take back home.

During his stay, the actor has been able to spend a leisurely evening at the theatre, and another at a cinema hall.

Upon doctors' recommendations, the actor plans to take an additional month off from shooting. On November 13, Mosharraf Karim is scheduled to fly out to Malaysia with his wife, where he will be joined once again by Shamim Zaman a couple of days later. The trio plans to spend an entire month exploring scenic locations around the country.
