'Go Kane' infuriates Colombia

Colombia's ambassador to the UK has complained after the Sun published a front page that referenced the country's links to the cocaine trade in the run-up to Tuesday's World Cup clash with England.

The headline reads: “As 3 Lions face nation that gave world Shakira, great coffee and er, other stuff, we say … GO KANE!” next to a picture of England striker Harry Kane.

“It's rather sad that they use such a festive and friendly environment as the World Cup to target a country and continue to stigmatise it with a completely unrelated issue,” said the ambassador, Nestor Osorio Londoño.

I TOLD YOU SO: COSTA AFTER KOKE'S MISS

Despite not taking a penalty against Russia during their tense shootout on Sunday night, Spain striker Diego Costa was one of the most animated in the huddle. The Spanish-Brazilian was seen talking to coach Fernando Hierro about the chosen penalty takers, during which he expressed his doubts about Atlético team mate Koke.

In the footage, Hierro is seen assuring Costa that "Koke is okay", after which Costa asks "He's okay?" with a clear look of disbelief. Koke then interrupts, throwing a bottle of water against the ground. Ramos asks him if he wants to take a penalty, to which Koke bluntly responds, "Yes, yes".

After Koke missed the third penalty, Costa stared at Hierro and uttered a forceful "I told you so!"

PSYCHIC OCTOPUS KILLED AND SOLD

A 'psychic' octopus that correctly predicted the results of all of Japan's group stage games was killed and sent to market, just before the knockout stages got underway.

Rabiot, a giant Pacific octopus caught in Obira, became a national sensation but Kimio Abe, his owner, decided that his business was more important than keeping the 'psychic' alive.
