Happy Birthday Hillary!
As the clock ticks down and the November 8 elections close in, Democrat Hillary Clinton has another date to acknowledge; her 69th birthday, which is October 26.
An American politician and the Democratic Party nominee for President of the United States in the 2016 election, Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton was born this day in 1947.
A former first lady, a mother and a lawyer, the veteran politician has many achievements under her belt, but in 2016, she broke a glass ceiling as she became the first woman in US history to become the presidential nominee of a major political party.
Hillary was born in Illinois and grew up in a middle-class home in Park Ridge, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, according to her official website.
Her dad, Hugh, was a World War II Navy veteran—and a lifelong Republican who worked hard and wasted nothing. He ran a business where he designed, printed, and sold draperies, according to her official website.
Hillary’s mother, Dorothy, had a tough childhood—and she inspired Hillary’s lifelong commitment to helping every child live up to his or her God-given potential.
Hillary attended Wellesley College after graduating from high school. While in college, she got involved with social justice activism and her classmates chose her to be the first-ever student speaker at Wellesley’s 1969 commencement ceremony.
She earned her law degree from Yale University and later married fellow law school graduate Bill Clinton in 1975.
From 1993 to 2001 she served as the first lady and then as a US senator from 2001 to 2009.
Early in 2007, Clinton announced her plans to run for the presidency. During the 2008 Democratic primaries, she conceded the nomination when it became apparent that Barack Obama held a majority of the delegate vote.
Obama, after winning the national election appointed Clinton as secretary of state. She served from January 2009 until 2013.
In the spring of 2015, she announced her plans to run again for the US presidency.
We wish her many happy returns of the day!
