2 Bangladeshis honoured for honesty in Singapore
Two Bangladeshi migrant workers in Singapore have been commended for their honesty after returning $45,000 worth of jewellery to its owner.
Nurul Islam and Sentu, who work as cleaners in Tanjong Pagar Town Council, received the Letter of Commendation from Singaporean lawmaker Melvin Yong on June 24 for returning jewellery worth about Tk 27 lakh.
The duo had found the entire stash of ornaments in a TV carton box at a lift lobby in Queenstown estate of the country.
The owner had reported the ornaments missing earlier on the same day that Nurul and Sentu had returned them.
Sabbir Ahmed, first secretary at Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore, told The Daily Star that Bangladeshis have goodwill for their hard-work and honesty among the Singaporeans.
More than one lakh Bangladeshis are now working in different sectors, especially for construction, in the developed Asian country.
