Wash painting workshop at FFA
A weeklong (June 1-7) wash painting workshop is on at the Department of Oriental Art and at Lecture Theatre of the Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), University of Dhaka (DU). Vice Chancellor of DU Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the workshop at Lecture Theatre of FFA on June 1.
Noted artists Tajul Islam; Professor Nasreen Begum of the Department of Oriental Art, DU; artist Dr. Rashid Amin of Jagannath University and filmmaker Jean Nesar Osman spoke among others at the inaugural ceremony of the workshop. Convener of Oriental Painting Study Group (OPSG) Dr. Malay Bala delivered the welcome address at the event. Dean of FFA Professor Syed Abul Barq Alvi presided over the session.
The workshop includes water colour wash painting technique, showcasing painting images by noted oriental painters, lectures on contemporary paintings of Bangladesh, aesthetics, golden section, drawing, composition and documentary screening on arts and pioneer artists like Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin and Indian artist Benode Behari Mukherjee.
The facilitators of the workshop are Tajul Islam, Professor Dr. Abdus Satter, Jean Nasar Osman, Zahid Mustafa, Dr. Rashid Amin, GC Trivedi, Dr. Malay Bala, Zahangir Alom and Gopal Chandra Saha. Around 50 students of the Department of Oriental Art of FFA, DU are participating at the workshop.
Organised by OPSG, the workshop has been sponsored by Chittagong Skills Development Centre.
