US to establish labour attaché in Dhaka

The US Department of Labour will establish a full-time Labour Attaché for its embassy in Dhaka to ensure greater engagement on workers' rights and workplace safety in Bangladesh in the coming months.
“We're working actively to establish a full-time labour attaché in our embassy in Dhaka,” said Eric Biel, acting associate deputy undersecretary for International Labour Affairs at the US Department of Labour.
Biel shared the plan at a programme, 'Prospects for Democratic Reconciliation and Workers' Rights in Bangladesh' held at the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations in Washington DC on Tuesday
The staff of the Bureau of International Labour Affairs will be in Dhaka later this month for detailed discussions, he added.
