Two AL men hurt in bomb attack
Two local Awami League (AL) leaders were critically injured as a gang of masked criminal hurled two bombs at them at Jagannathpur village in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga on Wednesday night.
The injured are Aser Halsana, 35, general secretary of Jagannathpur ward unit of AL, and Yash Nabi, 32, joint secretary of the same unit. Both of them hail from Jagannathpur village.
Police quoted witnesses as saying that Aser and Nabi were gossiping with 8/10 fellow party activists at the office of a local journalist around 8:30pm. All of a sudden, a gang of masked criminals reached the spot and asked all but Aser and Nabi to leave the spot.
The criminal hurled two bombs targeting Aser and Nabi, leaving them critically injured. Aser's right hand was blown away while Nabi received splinters injuries, police said.
Later, the gang left the spot, firing several blank shots. They were admitted to Damurhuda Upazila Health Complex and then shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
Kamruzzaman, officer in-charge (OC) of Damurhuda Police Station, said they have recovered some splinters from the spot and are conducting drives to arrest the attackers.
