Two abducted siblings rescued in Cox's Bazar
Rapid Action Battalion rescued two siblings from Ramu in Cox's Bazar on Thursday night and arrested one their uncles on charge of kidnapping them from Dhaka over two weeks ago.
Ashraful Alam Munna, 8, and his younger sister Jannatul Ferdous Sumaiya, 4, are children of Feroz Ahmed, a medicine trader in Ashulia outside the capital.
Abu Shama, who was living with his brother and looking after Feroz's shop, was found with the children in a house in Kalatali bus stand area in Ramu, said Rab's media wing director ATM Habibur Rahman at a press briefing in the capital yesterday.
On June 28, Shama kidnapped the kids in the name taking Munna to his madrasa and Sumaiya shopping. Later, he demanded Tk 7 lakh from their father and threatened to kill them, he said.
Feroz told The Daily Star that he asked Shama to live separately and find another job as he used to misappropriate money from the shop's cash box.
“He (Shama) kidnapped my kids for his greed for money,” he said.
