TV channel owners' assoc seeks justice for ETV chairman
The Association of Television Channel Owners (Atco) urged the government to ensure justice for Abdus Salam who is an Atco member and chairman of Ekushey Television (ETV).
In a recent press statement, Atco also said the ETV authority had informed it on January 7 of allegations by viewers that the channel's broadcast in several regions including Dhaka has been unavailable since January 5.
The statement was signed by Atco Vice-President Anjan Chowdhury and General Secretary Shykh Seraj.
Salam was held on January 6 from his Karwan Bazar office and shown arrested that afternoon in a case filed under the Pornography Control Act 2012.
A second sedition case was filed with Tegjaon police on January 8 against him and BNP Senior Vice-chairman Tarique Rahman in connection with the latter's “false, fabricated and instigative” speech the television aired.
