Tk 45cr gold seized at Ctg airport
Customs intelligence officials seized the biggest ever consignment of gold and detained 10 people from a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at Shah Amanat International Airport in the Chittagong this morning.
The officials recovered 902 gold bar weighing 105kg in polythene bags beneath passengers’ seats, Mosear Rahman, assistant commissioner airport customs, told The Daily Star.
The seized gold would worth Tk 45 crore, he said, adding that this is the biggest haul of gold seized at the Chittagong airport ever.
The officials searched BG-026 after it landed at the airport from Dubai around 10:30am and found the bars, Customs Intelligence Assistant Director Nahid Nawshad Mukul told The Daily Star.
Mosear Rahman added that in primary interrogation, seven of the detainees confessed their involvement with the smuggling, reports our Chittagong correspondent.
A case was filed with Potenga Police Station in connection with the seizer and detention.
