The legacy lives on...
Music lovers of the Moulvibazar district flocked to see “Kal Mrigaya”, a dance-drama composed by Tagore.
The theatre repertory of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Moulvibazar unit organised three shows of the play, one of Tagore's most-staged works, at Moulvibazar Government College auditorium on Tuesday.
Based on the epic “Ramayana”; “Kal Mrigaya” depicts the tragic story of King Dashrath who goes out hunting in a jungle where Andhamuni, a blind sage, live in a hermitage with his son and daughter.
Jyoti Singha successfully presented the dance-drama by young artistes.
“I am happy working with children,” said Jyoti, adding, “Tagore experimented and used many western melodies in the dance-drama which are very dear to the hearts of the people.”
Jyoti Singha also designed costumes, light and stage of the drama.
Though not as prominent as his music and poetry, Tagore's legacy lives on in the form of simple stage sets and the inclusion of dance in theatre.
