Imagine Cup Bangladesh 2014 Selection Round was held

Two-day long Imagine Cup Bangladesh 2014 selection round was held at Microsoft office in Bangladesh on April 11-12, 2014. Various prominent universities made their appearance totaling 42 teams in this round. They presented their case and business model and demonstrated their Windows & Windows Phone apps in front of the judges, who are experts from relevant fields such as technology, development, investment, entrepreneurship and software. This year, 1100 students registered for this competition among those 250 teams submitted their app summary, 42 of which were selected for this selection round.

GDays Bangladesh Kicks off!

GDays are large scale community phenomena, taking place in 22 countries across the globe.
On 12th April, GDay Bangladesh marked down the calendar with local Google communities in Dhaka. The day long program is designed with different elements for the aspiring participants, touching down from developers' guide to mapping bible. The exclusive event is taking place in The Daily Star Centre in Dhaka. Gdays are flagship observances, bringing together the Google communities in one platform. Around 60+ events have been undergone by Google Business Group Dhaka, Google Developer Group Dhaka and Google Business Group Sonargaon in Dhaka, reaching almost 2000 people across the country.



Bangladesh Computer Shomity (BCS) unveil its proposals for a prosperous Digital Bangladesh

To empower government even further, the pivotal institution of ICT of Bangladesh, 'BCS' has disclosed their proposal to expand the ICT market of Bangladesh. The primary focus of BCS was reshuffle of HS code so that many import duties get combined. As a result unnecessary taxes will be exempted and help the vendors to reduce the price for end users. Moreover BCS asked out the government to grant a seven year tax holiday facility for the industry.
In front of the press, BCS president AHM Mahfuzul Arif discussed in total 7 proposals. These includes:  HS code restructuring, reduction of advanced import tax, reduction of unnecessary taxes, port facilities etc. Mr. Arif said: 'If nurtured properly this industry will exceed garments industry some day. ' He also asked the government to allocate a budget of 700 Crore taka to digitize schools and educational institutes of Bangladesh.
