Tank-lorry fire halts highway traffic movement for 4hrs
Transport movement on Dhaka-Tangail highway resumed following four hours of disruption due to a fire that broke out in an oil carrying tank-lorry in Basail upazila of Tangail.
The fire originated in the tank-lorry when a truck, being dashed by a bus, hit the lorry near a petrol pump at Motra around 8:00am, said Quamruzzaman Raj, a sub-inspector of Elenga police outpost.
A bus stationed adjacent to the tank-lorry were also damaged by the fire.
On information, three firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame around 11:30am, reports our Tangail correspondent.
Vehicular movement on the highway got halted for four hours due to the fire, causing a severe traffic jam.
