India’s Union Cabinet approves the setting up of 10 indigenous pressurised heavy water reactors (PHWRs) for nuclear power generation. At present India generates 6,780 MW (6.78 gigawatts) from nuclear power but hopes to dramatically expand its capacity to 63 GW by 2032.
