Isteaque Ahmed is an outstanding writer where short stories are concerned. For some reason, after publishing a book of shorts, he switched to novels – which, in my opinion, failed to stand out. But as I walked through his latest- 'Shilpi Studio', it's clear that he has finally been blessed with the gift of writing novels.
The story begins with happiness all around and preparation of a special meal for everyone to celebrate the malfunctioning of the studio's only camera.
'Shilpi Studio' unlike any 'classic' photography studio is the nucleus of various characters which actually carries the story, driving the momentum.
A creative and a crazy man, an eccentric, a poetic, quirky and a cranky person -- amongst others. Spectacular is- the characters, among which some are under-educated carrying out philosophical tête-à-têtes. These ordinary people's extraordinary analytical arguments and hypothetical perceptions will give you cognitive jolts in regular intervals.
It is a 'VERY MUCH MUST READ' for fiction lovers. The first print was sold out in just six days of the Ekushey Boimela. The second print is selling like hot cakes. Better grab it as fast as you can!
