Tigers return home sans Mushfiqur
The Bangladesh cricket team returned home this afternoon after playing the one-off Test against India in Hyderabad, where they lost the game by 208 runs on the fifth and final day on Monday.
But skipper Mushfiqur Rahim did not return with the team. It was learnt that Mushfiqur went to Delhi to have some brand new bats from his sponsor. He is set to return home tomorrow. Opener Tamim Iqbal and middle-order batsman Mahmudullah Riyad went straight to Dubai to feature in the on-going Pakistan Super League (PSL). Premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan however returned with the team but will leave for Dubai tomorrow to play in the PSL. Besides, the coaching staff of the Bangladesh team including coach Chandika Hathurusingha also went to their respective homes from India. They will return to Dhaka before the first training session for the Sri Lanka tour starts on February 24.
Bangladesh will however get little time to recuperate before embarking on yet another demanding away series.
Although the tour itinerary of the full series of the Tigers is yet to be disclosed it was learnt that Bangladesh would fly to Colombo on February 27 to play two Tests, three ODIs and two T20Is against the island nation. The departure may be delayed by a day subject to the availability of the flight.
The Tigers, who have been on the road since December when they toured New Zealand for a full series, are set to play a two-day practice game before the first of the two Tests, starting in Dambulla from March 7.
After the two Tests, Bangladesh play three ODIs and will round off more than a month-long tour with two T20Is. They are scheduled to return home on April 8.
