Girls qualify into Asia’s Top 8
Bangladesh have sealed a place the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship finals after beating their key rivals Chinese Taipei 4-2 in the penultimate match of Qualifying group C at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.
The girls in red and green came back from a goal down to notch the terrific victory, thanks to two penalty conversions from Shamsunnahar in the first half followed by a strike apiece from skipper Krishna Rani and Marzia in the second half.
Despite having a game left to play, Bangladesh’s qualification has been ensured on head-to-head count as they have beaten both Taipei and Iran, the two teams who might catch up on points in case Bangladesh lose their last match against the UAE.
Bangladesh will play against seven of the best teams of Asia, four of whom were granted automatic entry while the remaining four from the qualification groups, in the final round likely to be held in China in September next year.
