BFF to inform AFC by May 31
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is preparing a progress report on the alleged fixed match of the Senior Division Football League as the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) instructed the local game's governing body to inform them of updates by May 31.
The match in question between Dhaka United Club and Friends Social Welfare Organisation, which took place on May 21, came to the AFC's notice after it was widely publicised due to the suspicious nature of the match.
“Referring to reports published on different newspapers, the AFC on May 25 wanted to know the details of the alleged fixed match,” said BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag yesterday.
“Dhaka Metropolis Football League Committee has already formed a probe committee to submit its report within a week and I am expecting to get an impression of that tomorrow [Tuesday] and then we will update the AFC by May 31,” said Shohag, adding that it is not mandatory to provide the AFC with a final decision by Wednesday.
“If we need more time to get the findings, we will let them know but we will inform what we have already done and what things we are going to do,” concluded the BFF spokesman.
