Wives, girlfriends banned by BCCI
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly prohibited wives and girlfriends from accompanying Indian cricketers on their upcoming tour to Sri Lanka.
The BCCI feels that the previous policy of not allowing partners on tours should be implemented again as the players have spent considerable time home.
"Most of the players on tour are just coming off a month-long break where they had enough time to spend with their families. And we've decided that their wives will not be allowed on tour," a BCCI official was quoted as saying.
In recent times, Kohli and his girlfriend Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma have made headlines during tours. The duo has attracted a lot of attention and, with India desperate to win Tests overseas, the BCCI feels the players should only focus on cricket.
